Amid the political storm over the state government inviting Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara, Maqsood Imran Rashadi, Chief Imam of Jamia Masjid, City Market, Bengaluru, said there is nothing wrong in the writer taking part in the event.
The imam said just by taking part in religious events as an invitee, a person will not lose his/her religious identity. "Many non-Muslim MLA aspirants come to the masjid during elections and also offer namaz. This does not mean that they have become Muslims, and in the same way, if Banu Musthaq takes part in puja at Chamundi Hills, she will not become a non-Muslim," he said. The
