NCLAT stays CCI's ban on WhatsApp-Meta data sharing

IN a relief to Mark Zuckerberg-owned Meta, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Thursday suspended the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) five-year data-sharing ban between WhatsApp and its parent company, Meta Platforms.
This will allow Meta to continue its data sharing practices with WhatsApp while the tribunal further examines the antitrust ruling. The chairperson, Justice Ashok Bhushan, and Technical Member Arun Baroka said a five-year ban could potentially undermine WhatsApp's business model as the platform is free to users.
