OUT of 79 sugar factories in Karnataka, only 13 factories' management have implemented the 7th Pay Commission benefits for workers. The Karnataka State Sugar Factory Workers' Federation has warned that unless the remaining factories comply before the upcoming cane-crushing season, a statewide agitation will be launched.
At a workers' union meeting in Ugar, near Belagavi, Union president Kallappa Karigar said Sugar Minister Shivanand Patil and Labour Minister Santosh Lad had already issued strict orders to all factories to implement the government directive without delay.
