K’taka HC upholds trial court order, BSY to be tried in POCSO case

IN a major setback to former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the cognisance of offences taken by the trial court against him, under the provisions of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, for allegedly molesting a minor girl.
Upholding the order passed by the trial court, taking cognisance of the offences and issuing summons to Yediyurappa and three others, the high court said the trial court should not insist on the presence of the former CM, considering his age and peculiar facts and circumstances of the case, unless it is necessary during the trial.
