US Open: Dimitrov and Keys advance to round 3

GRIGOR Dimitrov was one of the early winners at Flushing Meadows on Wednesday morning.

The Bulgarian cruised into the third round after a straightsets 6-1, 6-1, 7-6(4) win over Rinky Hijakita. Joining him in the third round was Tallon Griekspoor after Sebastian Baez withdrew while trailing 1-6, 0-2.
In the women's side, Madison Keys, still searching for her second Major final and first since the 2017 French Open, coasted past Maya Joint 6-4, 6-0. She will face Elise Mertens, who enjoyed a fairly serene outing against Ajla Tomljanovic before prevailing 6-3, 6-2.

Carlos Alcaraz roared home for a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over 186th-ranked Australian Li Tu on Tuesday to launch his bid to add the US Open to the Roland Garros and Wimbledon titles he claimed this year.
