SMBC Stake Buy Not to Influence Yes Bank Ratings

THE acquisition of 20% stake in Yes Bank by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) will have a 'limited' influence in the functioning of the bank, and therefore, SMBC's stronger credit ratings would not significantly influence Yes Bank's ratings, Moody's said in a note on Wednesday.
It says that if SMBC significantly increases its stake in Yes Bank, it may consider incorporating 'affiliate support' into Yes Bank's ratings. However, the rating agency says that the acquisition is credit positive for Yes Bank because "it brings in a long-term strategic partner, with a strong balance sheet
