Postal ties with Pak defunct for past 6 years, says official

THREE days after the central government decided to suspend exchanges of all categories of inbound mail and parcels from Pakistan through air and surface routes, an official of the Foreign Post Office in Delhi revealed that the postal services between the two countries had been virtually non-functional for the past six years.

The disruption began on October 18, 2019 when Pakistan had issued official orders stating that they will not accept any mails from India. This had happened for the first time, following abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Ironically, it is also the first time when India has reciprocated with an official suspension prompted by the recent terror attack in Kashmir last month.
