Patanjali approaches HC against ad restraint; court warns of ‘luxury litigation’

PATANJALI Ayurved has approached the Delhi HC challenging an order restraining it from airing disparaging advertisements against Dabur Chyawanprash. The matter came up on Friday before a bench of Justices C Hari Shankar and Om Prakash Shukla.

At the outset, the bench orally observed that it was a case of generic disparagement and that Patanjali’s statements were an obvious reference to Dabur. The court also warned that if it found the appeal to be a “luxury litigation” or a “useless appeal,” it would impose costs.
