Odisha police arrests BJP leader for damaging EVM

Police arrested BJP leader Prasanta Kumar Jagadev for allegedly damaging an electronic voting machine (EVM) and manhandling polling officers at a booth in Bolagarh during the third phase elections on Saturday.

ADG Law and Order Sanjay Kumar said Jagadev was booked under various sections of IPC, Representation of the People Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

Investigation is on to establish if Prasanta Jagadev went to the booth alone or with some of his associates. CCTV footage of the booth is being examined and further action will be taken accordingly. "Jagadev was sent to judicial custody till June 7," said DIG Awinash Kumar, who is Khurda SP.
