THE Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the trial against Lalu Prasad, the RJD chief and former Bihar CM, in the land-for-jobs case investigated by the CBI.
-
However, it exempted Yadav from personal presence during the trial. "We are not inclined to stay the trial in the case. Sorry," said a bench of Justices M M Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh.
On May 29, the Delhi HC, while dismissing Prasad's petition for a stay of the trial, said that there was no compelling reason to stay the proceedings.
The HC had issued a notice to the CBI regarding Prasad's plea for quashing of the FIR and scheduled the hearing for August 12.
