Says govt's advice not needed; parties call it assault on democracy
THE Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has informed the Jammu and Kashmir High Court that the Lieutenant Governor can nominate five members to the Assembly without advice of the elected government in the Union Territory, evoking strong resentment from the NC, PDP and the Congress.
Congress leader Ravindra Sharma, who has filed the petition in the court challenging the constitutionality of nominations by the LG, said they would file a rejoinder on the next day of hearing on August 14.
