June 25 notified as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas'

THE government on Friday notified its decision to observe June 25, the day Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency in the country in 1975, as Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas (Day of Murder of the Constitution) to commemorate the massive contributions of those who endured inhuman pains during that period.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas "will help keep the eternal flame of individual freedom and the defence of democracy alive in every Indian, thus preventing dictatorial forces like the Congress from repeating those horrors".
