MHA cites financial irregularities and violation of norms by SECMOL
A day after violent protests in Ladakh killed four persons and injured many, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday cancelled the FCRA licence of Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), founded by activist Sonam Wangchuk who was on hunger strike seeking special rights and statehood for the Union Territory.
While cancelling the licence, the MHA cited several alleged discrepancies in the accounts of SECMOL, including a fund transfer from Sweden that was "against national interest".
