CCTV cameras in 58% of AP police stations: Report

The Morning Standard

August 10, 2025

WHILE the Andhra Pradesh government and State police department asserted multiple times that it has strictly complied with Supreme Court directives of installing closed circuit security (CCTV) cameras in all the police stations across the state, the latest India Justice Report presents a different picture.

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

According to the India Justice Report 2025, only about 58.3 percent of police stations in the state are equipped with CCTV facilities, leaving the remaining stations without such surveillance infra. This finding contradicts the government’s claim of full compliance with court-mandated security measures. Meanwhile, the neighbouring Telangana state reported 88.9 percent CCTV cameras in their police station and lowest being the Jharkhand state with 21.5 percent.
