Emily Gray pays a visit to the Northumberland village of Warkworth – and finds it attracting people from far and wide
-
The village by the River Coquet is dominated by a view of Warkworth Castle
T'S a Northumberland village steeped in history, overlooked by the 12th Century castle dominating the skyline. The idyllic and quaint Warkworth is a must-visit. And despite the frosty winter weather, tourists were out and about, exploring what it has to offer.
We first bumped into couple Hannah and Josh from the Midlands who were on a post-Christmas getaway to the Northumberland coast for the first time. Hannah said: "We came here to explore the beaches and see the castle. We were recommended to come here from family who had visited in the past."
Impressed by what they had seen so far, Hannah said: "It's nice and quiet here, it's cosy. We've been staying in Seahouses and yesterday made our way to Holy Island too."
