NEWCASTLE'S Exhibition Park welcomed thousands of people for the city's Mela event.
The annual two-day free celebration of Pakistani, Bengali, Indian and other South Asian cultures brought a display of vibrant colour, music and talent.
Always a summer highlight in the city, the main event delivered a packed programme of entertainment in what was the festival’s 31st year.
The event started on Sunday with crowds of around 40,000 visitors expected over the two days.
