Someone has to be the family kit boy, you know

I AM awoken on the cusp of 5am with demands for hydrating ice lollies, massages and motivational pep talks.

- Carrie Carlisle

My house looks less like a home, and more like a mini Olympic village.

Makeshift obstacle courses are assembled from toys as far as the eye can see.

A request is put in for me to remove the child car seats from all vehicles, so that every stuffed animal can become a sideline spectator.

I gracefully acquiesce.

My iPhone is then turned into a stopwatch, and I spend the rest of the morning marking Personal Bests, before finally shoe-horning my children into their PE kits.

Because: Sports Day.

My sweet little daughters may only be genetically 50% professional athlete, but as soon as any competition is on the horizon my own personality traits get shown the door.

I do not have a competitive bone in my body. Which is probably a bonus, because I was blessed with zero athletic ability.
