MAYOR of North Tyneside Karen Clark has said she hopes the site of Monkseaton High School can be used for future educational purposes as the school's closure looms.

The newly-elected Mayor of North Tyneside expressed her hopes that the school site and building could be used for education in some form, also reiterating that the area is legally reserved for this purpose.

North Tyneside Council bosses took the final decision to close Monkseaton High in December 2024, following several public consultations and amid public outcry.
