Sand mural marks end of work on coastal path

A STUNNING mural appeared on Tynemouth Longsands over the weekend - and featured some of the North Tyneside coast’s most recognisable landmarks.

The mural featured a bicycle wheel, Tynemouth Priory and St Mary's Lighthouse and it will have piqued the interest of hundreds of passersby over Sunday and Monday.

The work - produced by sand-art experts Soul 2 Sand - was part of this weekend's celebrations marking the completion of the Seafront Sustainable Route between the two landmarks.

Work on the mixed-use path which includes a cycle lane is now completed.

Later on Monday, a special summer holiday event continued the festivities.
