Residents warned about scam council tax email
The Journal
|July 05, 2025
NORTHUMBERLAND residents are being warned to be on their guard following another spate of council tax scams in the county.
-
The county council's fraud team has been made aware of an email that is circulating claiming that the resident has fallen into council tax arrears.
It asks the recipient to click on a link to check their payment status. Under no circumstances should you click on it as doing so could give the criminals access to your computer, or it may go on to ask for personal banking details to try to access your money.
