NEWCASTLE United fans are bracing themselves for a big summer in the transfer market with Eddie Howe already describing the upcoming window as “massive” for the Magpies.

- By LEE RYDER

In truth, Newcastle are limping towards the finish line in the top-flight with injury concerns hovering above Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, Joe Willock and Sven Botman. It suggests that a summer refresh will be required in the summer but Newcastle must tread carefully with spending plans due to the tight constraints of PSR.

The key message to come out of Howe's last press conference was very much: “The summer window as we know, and as I've made no attempt to hide, is a massive window for us.

“We are missing some big players and whenever you do that there is a gap.”

With PSR constraints still to be considered, we look at five options for Newcastle from the clutch of relegated clubs.

OMARI HUTCHINSON

The 21-year-old former Chelsea youngster is believed to have a release clause of £35m. That was inserted last summer when Ipswich made his move from the Blues a permanent deal.
