The Journal
|July 04, 2025
A GATESHEAD man who raped a sleeping woman called police and admitted what he'd done soon after the attack.
-
James Gregory phoned the police and told them he'd raped a woman but later went on to claim his confession was not true.
But last year, a jury found the 32-year-old guilty of rape. He has now been put behind bars for eight years.
On Thursday, Gregory appeared at Newcastle Crown Court to be sentenced for the serious charge. He appeared at the court via link from HMP Durham.
