Nurse fraudulently claimed £21k

A NORTHUMBERLAND nurse committed benefit fraud by claiming over £21,000 from the Department for Work and Pensions and failing to notify them about living with her partner.

Before becoming a nurse, Louise Brown was claiming Universal Credit between 2019 and 2022 and told the DWP she was a lone parent looking after two children.

But the 33-year-old was actually living with her partner at the time and fraudulently claimed a total of £21,289.

Brown, who has since qualified as a nurse, was fined over £1,000 at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.
