THE North East is the safest region to drive in Britain, according to a new map revealing Britain's deadliest roads.

Provisional casualty figures published by the Department for Transport show there were 1,633 fatalities on British roads in 2024, a 1% increase from the previous year. More than 29,500 people were killed or seriously injured, similar to 2023, and another 99,000 were slightly injured, a 4% fall.
