No regrets for Campbell after Durham edged out in thriller

HEAD coach Ryan Campbell had no regrets about the timing of Durham's declaration after they lost a thriller against Warwickshire.

The visitors won by one wicket at Banks Home Riverside in Durham's first home game of the Rothesay County Championship season.

Durham declared their second innings on 276-8, and Warwickshire successfully chased down their target of 339 thanks largely to Ed Barnard’s hundred and No.10 Ethan Bamber's unbeaten 30, having been 285-7 at one stage.

Durham are bottom of the Division One table after their opening two games, but Campbell defended the decision to put the visitors into bat, saying it was worth the “risk”.

“People are going to umm and arr about the declaration,” he said.
