NHS bosses in warning over unsafe 'skinny jabs

NHS bosses in the North East have warned the public of the risk of using “skinny jabs” obtained privately or online.

The treatments have been described as potentially “fake, dangerous and even deadly”. This comes as GPs report cases in our region of patients have become unwell after using treatments they shouldn't have.

Issues can occur when medicines are bought without a GP or pharmacist taking care to ensure that a new treatment doesn’t cause problems with a patient's existing health conditions or existing medication.

The North East and North Cumbria NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) has reported how GPs are seeing patients who have become poorly due to this very issue.
