Man didn’t realise owning knuckleduster was illegal

A man was found to have a knuckleduster in his living room when police searched his home looking for drugs.

John Jamieson had the weapon at his Amble address, in Northumberland, because he “hadn't realised it was illegal to have it in a private place”.
A court heard that officers came across the knuckleduster when they searched the 25-year-old’s home under the Misuse of Drugs Act. There was no suggestion any drugs were discovered.
