Initiative aims to encourage female entrepreneurs
The Journal
|August 18, 2025
A NEW initiative is being launched in the North East to encourage female entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses in the ageing, wellness and longevity sectors.
Lifted Ventures is working with the National Innovation Centre for Ageing’s Internet of Caring Things programme to launch the Athena Labs growth and funding programme. The project has won support from the British Business Bank, the North East Combined Authority and Newcastle University and aims to enable female founders to refine their business models, build investor readiness and access the capital they need to grow.
A launch event for the programme will take place on September 25 at the Catalyst building at Newcastle Helix. The event is designed to give interested parties the opportunity to hear more about the programme and hear from successful female entrepreneurs.
