Howe explains Elanga falling down order

NEWCASTLE United boss Eddie Howe has explained why his £55m man Anthony Elanga has found himself benched in recent weeks.

The Sweden flyer's arrival was celebrated by fans when he signed on the dotted line from Forest, but he has fallen down the pecking order quickly after starting the first game of the season against Aston Villa.

Elanga missed a great chance on his debut in the 0-0 stalemate at Villa Park and has struggled to make an early impact, losing his place to Jacob Murphy.

Murphy's contribution was highlighted by Alan Shearer in the weekend victory over Wolves after setting up Nick Woltemade for his first goal for the club.
