Home schooling on the rise locally since 2017

THE number of children in North Tyneside being home schooled continues to rise with almost 300 now withdrawn from school.

Latest figures from North Tyneside Council revealed 288 youngsters aged between 5-16 were recorded as being “electively home educated” (EHE).
This is a stark rise from 2017 when only 50 children in the borough were being educated at home.
North Tyneside does, however, have a slightly lower percentage of children in home schooling (1%) as opposed to the national rate of 1.4%.
