Foghorn Farage cosplays Trump

The Journal

August 28, 2025

THE latest promise by Nigel Farage to deport every illegal immigrant from Britain reads like the start of a bad dystopian novel penned by his hero, Donald Trump.

- CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor

However, it's actually the Reform Party's latest campaign promise and the clearest sign yet that the UK's right wing is deep in the American leader's cosplay era.

‘The call to “round up” undocumented people and send them packing isn’t just a dog whistle; it’s a foghorn, blaring across British politics straight from across the Atlantic.

The language, tone, and moral vacuum of the proposal couldn’t be more familiar. It’s lifted, almost word-for-word, from Trump's populist playbook.

Build a wall, blame the foreigners, offer a simple-sounding fix for a complex problem, then yell it louder if people start asking questions.

Let's be clear: the UK has legitimate issues to address when it comes to immigration.

The current system is messy and slow, while the use of hotels to house them is questionable.
