Final's a day I won't forget, says teenager

WITH a full career ahead of him, and speculation over his future, 17-year-old sensation Chris Rigg reckoned, Sunderland's promotion is “a day I will never forget".

Along with the likes of Dan Neil, Rigg was not on the pitch for the dramatic turnaround from 1-0 down.

But in a season of so many highs for a young squad carrying an average age of 24.3 years in the final, Rigg personified the youthful exuberance and fearless approach to games which was clear to see in their Championship play-off final win over Sheffield United.

He has amassed more than half a century of first-team appearances and now has a play-off final winner's medal to add to his growing list of accolades.
