Elanga arrived at Newcastle for a huge fee of £55 million and while we have seen what he can do in small doses, particularly in the Champions League, he has struggled to fire in the Premier League.

Danny Welbeck was again on target against Newcastle
He struggled badly to make an impact against Brighton and was hooked at halftime by Howe and replaced by Jacob Murphy.
Given the excellent season Murphy enjoyed last term, he has every right to feel hard done by to currently find himself out of the Newcastle side.
Out of all the summer signings, Elanga’s proven Premier League experience almost made his summer move feel like a sure bet to succeed.
