Council tax support scheme in for review

NORTH Tyneside Council is set to launch a consultation on its council tax support scheme. The local authority will seek the views of residents to alter its council tax support for working age recipients.

The current scheme, according to the council, needs to be changed to meet the demands placed on it. The council's report has identified several issues with the existing system, including its “burdensome” and “costly” administration for the local authority.
