City given stern rebuff in pursuit of United star

NEWCASTLE United are believed to have met Manchester City's admiration for Tino Livramento with a fiery defiance.

The Journal understands that Newcastle - or Eddie Howe - have no interest in selling the once-capped England international full-back this summer.

City view Livramento as a top target ahead of the FIFA World Club Cup and remain keen with two days left of business, but a "not for sale" message has been flashed their way.

Newcastle have rejected initial approaches - coming from intermediaries - for the 22-year-old fans' favourite.
