Church to become hub for community

A NEW chapter is beginning for the Ponteland United Church at Broadway in Darras Hall after it was announced the site will be taken over by the Malhotra Family Foundation.

The Newcastle-based charitable organisation's goal is to create a space for residents, families and schools, bringing the church back to its former glory as a hub for the community.

The church had closed its doors in recent years, but now the Malhotra Group is investing a significant amount of money into the development as part of the group's aim to make a difference through education, health and social care, with this being the scheme's first major project.
