NEW centre at Newcastle University will enable a world-leading firm to produce potentially lifesaving material that helps to diagnose cancer.
The new hub will be at the university
The firm - Curium International - is to produce a “diagnostic radiotracer” which is used to power PET scans that are used to diagnose and monitor illnesses from cancer to heart disease.
The new hub will be at the Bedson Building on Newcastle University’s campus, close to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).
Senior university figures welcomed the news and said it would bring “further leading-edge” care to our region.
