CAFE IN THE RUNNING TO SCORE AWARD

A cafe in a stunning location in Jesmond has become a favourite with some of the Newcastle United players' wives and girlfriends (WAGs) - and now it has been nominated for a national award.

The shortlists for this year's Deliveroo awards have been revealed and a host of venues from Newcastle are in the running to take one of the many titles up for grabs.

Restaurants in the area to make the cut include city centre favourite Zaap, up for Best Thai; Wings N More, one of the finalists for Best Chicken; and Bigg Market legends Meat:Stack, who are vying for the Best Burger prize.
