Backing for 30mph limit

HUNDREDS of residents have thrown their weight behind a campaign demanding lower speed limits on a major city thoroughfare.

People living in Durham City's Neville’s Cross neighbourhood are pushing for a 30mph restriction on the A167 following persistent road safety worries.

Local residents have argued that the existing 40mph limit poses too great a risk to those on foot.
