AI Growth Zone could bring 1,000s of new jobs

BUSINESS leaders have welcomed the announcement of an Al Growth Zone that could bring thousands of jobs to the North East.
The zone in North Tyneside and Northumberland will include new AI activity on the Cobalt Business Park involving some of the world's largest companies, as well as a huge new data centre being built at Cambois, near Blyth.
It has been announced along with other US tech investments accompanying President Trump's state visit to the UK.
North East mayor Kim McGuinness said the announcement "places the North East at the forefront of the next technology revolution and will lead to billions of pounds of new investment in our region, thousands of better jobs and new opportunities for local people." Welcome came too from civic leaders in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
John McCabe, chief executive at the North East Chamber of Commerce, said: "We welcome today's announcement of the North East AI Growth Zone, with Nvidia, OpenAI and Nscale leading major new projects at Blyth and North Tyneside.
