Accessibility upgrade for Hadrian's Wall site

Walltown Country Park, on Hadrian's Wall near Greenhead, now has an upgraded car park, newly installed electric vehicle charging stations, accessible picnic tables and benches, and one mile (1.6km) of accessible footpaths.

Visitors can rent a tramper, an all-terrain mobility scooter, which aims to ensure that more people can enjoy the aforementioned footpaths.

Upgrades are set to continue into autumn with a new cycle hub top open which has an electric bike charger and repair kit, a balance bike library, and bikes and helmets for younger visitors.

Tony Gates, chief executive of Northumberland National Park Authority, said making the park more accessibie was about more than improving infrastructure.
