250-year-old Assembly Rooms building for sale
The Journal
|April 18, 2026
ONE of Newcastle's best-known historic buildings is up for sale for offers over £2m.
> The Assembly Rooms in Newcastle City Centre
The Assembly Rooms in the city centre date back to 1776 and have held a wide range of functions over its 250-year history.
The property has been put up for sale through property agents Savills. With offers being invited over £2m, the property has been described as having four floors, including a basement, and boasting a former nightclub, plus suites that can host corporate functions, banquets and conferences.
The sale document describes the listed building as a “landmark city centre leisure investment.” It says part of the building is let to its current occupiers on a 25-year lease for £150,000 a year, while a small car park brings in around £15,000 per annum.
