Mahinda, Thurstan enter Tier ‘A’ as strong contenders

Newly promoted Thurstan College Colombo and Mahinda College Galle are set to compete in group 'B' and 'C' respectively when the Under 19 Division I Tier 'A' limited overs cricket tournament starts early next month.

Mahinda will meet last year finalists Trinity in a tough group also consisting of Nalanda Colombo, Royal Colombo, Maris Stella, Negombo and Prince of Wales Moratuwa.
Thurstan are drawn in group 'C' where S. Thomas' Mount Lavinia and St. Peter's Bambalapitiya are the other teams from Colombo.
Defending champions St. Joseph's are in group 'A' inclusive of formidable opponents, St. Sebastian's Moratuwa and St. Anthony's Katugastota.
The tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association sees 18 teams competing in three groups in the Tier 'A' category.
