Importance of healthy blood sugar levels
The Island
|September 01, 2025
For millions of people across the world, keeping blood sugar levels within the medically recommended range is not just a matter of routine checkups but a cornerstone of long-term health.
-
The human body runs on glucose, which is the main source of energy for cells. However, when blood sugar rises too high or falls too low, it sets the stage for a host of problems that can be both immediate and long-lasting.
Maintaining a healthy balance is critical because it ensures that energy supply remains steady without overtaxing the body's systems. When blood sugar consistently exceeds the recommended range, the pancreas is forced to produce more insulin to help cells absorb glucose. Over time, cells may stop responding effectively to insulin, a condition known as insulin resistance. This is a key factor in the development of type 2 diabetes, which affects millions globally and is rising at alarming rates.
