Former Amb. to Tehran decries Colombo's position on US joining Israeli campaign against Iran

The Island

June 24, 2025

Sri Lanka's former Ambassador in Tehran, M.M. Zuhair, PC, declared yesterday that the National People's Power (NPP) government's response to the massive US attack on Iran is pathetic.

- BY SHAMINDRA FERDINANDO

Referring to the justification of the US-UK led invasion of Iraq in 2003 on the basis of that country developing Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs), Zuhair pointed out that Iran was now falsely targeted over its supposed bid to acquire nuclear weapons.

The former PA parliamentarian said that the US joined Israeli aggression in spite of the US intelligence community publicly acknowledging that Iran hadn't been engaged in developing nuclear weapons. The former Ambassador said that he was quite shocked by the Foreign Ministry statement that simply ignored the developing situation.
