‘T’m not even thinking of him, president says of former ally

Peace offering rejected as Trump-Musk row deepens

Donald Trump is “not even thinking about” Elon Musk and may get rid of his showpiece Tesla Model S he said yesterday, signalling a continuation to their explosive and potentially expensive public feud.

The president reasserted his hostility after a spectacular and undignified social media spat with the billionaire, who spent $300m and claims to have helped Mr Trump win the US election.

Yesterday in Washington, Mr Trump was asked about reports of a peacemaking phone call with Mr Musk, to which he responded: “You mean the man who has lost his mind?

“I’m not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem, the poor guy’s got a problem.”

Shares in Tesla recovered slightly yesterday after dropping 14 per cent and losing $150bn in value following Mr Trump’s threat to cut off government contracts with Mr Musk’s companies.

All Russia has to show for this invasion is pain

When Vladimir Putin launched his cynically euphemistic “special military operation” against Ukraine four years ago, it was supposed to last about a week. In that time, according to the Kremlin’s plan, Volodymyr Zelensky - a supposed “Nazi” who just happens to be Jewish - was expected to flee Kyiv to some comfortable bolthole in the West.
