Canada threatened with 100% tariffs over China deal

Donald Trump has threatened to “immediately” hit Canada with a 100 per cent tariff on all goods and products, should the country make a deal with China.
“If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken,” the US president wrote in a Truth Social post yesterday morning.
“China will eat Canada alive, completely devour it, including the destruction of their businesses, social fabric, and general way of life. If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A.”
The new “strategic partnership” between China and Canada was announced by Canadian prime minister Mark Carney earlier this month and promises to expand trade and mutual investment between the two nations, while focusing on areas such as agriculture, agri-food, energy, and finance.
