Grieving family back drink-drive police campaign

THE family of a dad killed by a drink driver in West Yorkshire have issued a “heartbreaking” plea for drivers to “not take a chance” behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs.

Adam Afsar’s life was cut short after being killed by a driver who was found to be twice the legal limit for alcohol and had also taken cocaine following a night out.

Now, Adam's mother, Christine and 15-year-old daughter Miley are facing another Christmas without their “beloved” Adam, who “would have done anything for anyone”.

The family explained how Adam, 34 and his best friend Jason Wilby, 27, were both killed when the car Adam, right, was driving was hit by another car going the wrong way down a slip road of the M62 at the Chain Bar roundabout.

Fighting back tears, Christine told West Yorkshire Police officers about the impact Adam's death had on the family.

Christine said: “We begged the police to take us to him - they couldn't get him out of the car. They had to hang his dead body upside down. That is all that goes through my head.”
