NURSE AND DEVOTED MUM'S MENTAL HEALTH HAD DETERIORATED

- By ANDREW ROBINSON

Coroner demands answers over care given to Victoria

A CORONER has written to mental health bosses following the death of a devoted and much-loved mum.

Huddersfield-born Victoria Taylor, 34, a nurse, who was found drowned in the River Derwent in October last year following a 22-day search, was failed “time and again” by services supposed to help her, according to her family.

Ms Taylor, who was known as Vixx, had disappeared from her home in Malton, North Yorkshire, on September 30. The mum-of-one had battled with alcohol dependency and mental health issues stemming from childhood trauma.

North Yorkshire coroner Catherine Cundy, who raised concerns during an inquest regarding mental health care provided to Ms Taylor, has now published a Prevention of Future Deaths report into the case which has been sent to Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.

The report outlined how Ms Taylor's mental health deteriorated significantly between May 2024 and her death, with an escalation of incidents of suicidal ideas, threats and actual self-harm, and episodes of binge-drinking.
