'Shameful' figure of 172,000 kids now in temporary accommodation

A NEW record high of more than 172,000 children are living in temporary accommodation in England, according to the latest official figures.
-
There were 172,420 dependent children living in temporary accommodation, a form of homelessness, at the end of June, the government data showed.
Numbers have been rising in each quarter since 2021, with one major homelessness charity branding the latest figure "utterly shameful" and another asking: "When will this end?"
